TrashScan: A Digital Protest Against Pollution
For TrashScan, I combined technology and environmental awareness to create a thought-provoking visual statement on pollution. This project began with a simple yet impactful act: collecting discarded waste from my neighborhood. By scanning these found objects using 3D scanning techniques, I transformed everyday trash into digital artifacts—turning overlooked remnants of consumption into subjects of artistic exploration.
The resulting animation serves as a protest against pollution, highlighting the sheer volume of waste that surrounds us and the lasting impact of human negligence on our environment. Through motion and composition, I sought to emphasize the contrast between the mundane nature of these discarded items and the striking visual presence they take on in a digital space.
The name TrashScan is a fusion of trashcan and scan, reflecting both the project’s process and its message. By digitizing waste, this work challenges viewers to reconsider their relationship with disposable culture and invites reflection on the permanence of materials we so often discard without thought.
